A Few Modalities…

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a technique to address traumatic or distressful memories. The goal is to reduce the emotional and physical intensity or responses to the memories or triggers, breakdown negative beliefs related to the memories, and rebuild positive beliefs about the self. This technique is great for situations where you can logic your way through something but still don’t “feel” that the logical statement is true because the body is experiencing distress like anxiety, anger, or fear. While EMDR is traditionally used for traumatic or distressful memories it can be used to address a wide variety of concerns that aren’t considered traumatic and can be used to prepare for future situations that may cause distress.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-Informed Care is an approach to therapy that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma and prioritizes emotional and physical safety throughout the healing process. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?” trauma-informed care considers, “What happened to you?” This compassionate framework acknowledges how past experiences can influence thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors. By fostering trust, collaboration, empowerment, and resilience, trauma-informed care helps clients feel supported as they explore their experiences, build coping skills, and work toward healing at a pace that feels safe and appropriate for them.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps individuals better understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. Through a supportive and collaborative process, clients learn practical skills to challenge negative thought patterns, build resilience, and respond to life's challenges more effectively. CBT is an evidence-based treatment that can be highly effective for concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, and self-esteem, empowering clients to create positive and lasting change.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing attention to the present moment with openness, curiosity, and without judgment. In therapy, mindfulness helps individuals become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, allowing them to respond to challenges with greater clarity and intention rather than reacting automatically. By cultivating present-moment awareness, mindfulness can reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, enhance self-compassion, and support overall mental well-being. This approach can be especially helpful for managing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the everyday pressures of modern life.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, client-centered approach that helps individuals explore and strengthen their motivation for change. Rather than directing or persuading, MI creates a supportive space where clients can identify their own goals, values, and reasons for making meaningful changes in their lives. This evidence-based approach is particularly effective for addressing behaviors related to health, substance use, relationships, and personal growth. By fostering self-awareness, confidence, and autonomy, Motivational Interviewing empowers clients to move toward lasting change at their own pace.

A patterned rug covers the floor, and an end table with records and a small lamp is beside the sofa. String lights hang across the ceiling, which has an industrial look with exposed concrete.
